We all know this situation… someone shows at the door and you’d like to treat them with something yummy, but there is no time to prepare anything advanced. Fear not, a simple to make Greek Feta cheese spread that you can serve on any bread, comes for the rescue 🙂
Or maybe you’re just a bit hungry and want some quick fix for your cravings? This cheese spread is sure to please and it really takes just a few minutes from start to finish.
Not a fan of Feta Cheese? No problem, I just posted 2 more spread recipes that are just as easy to prepare and both are delicious. First comes my kids favorite “canned tuna and cheese spread” and the other one is the “egg and cheese spread”, which happens to be my preferred one.
All three spreads use ingredients most of us keep at home at all times, nothing out of the ordinary is required. Let’s go 🙂
Feta Cheese Spread Ingredients
100g (3.5oz) of Greek Feta cheese
100g (3.5oz) of Cream cheese
100g (3.5oz) of Mild spreadable cheese
100g (3.5oz) of Butter
1 large shallot
1 teaspoon of sweet red paprika
black pepper to taste
How To Make Feta Cheese Spread
It really doesn’t get any easier than this 🙂 All you have to do is finely chop the shallot, slice the scallions and melt the butter.
The next step is to mix all the ingredients in a bowl. As easy as that. Don’t forget to add a pinch of black pepper.
I recommend mixing the spread by hand with a fork. Using a mixer or blender would be an option but the final spread would miss the texture. You simply want to bite through the crunchy onion pieces.
Let the spread rest in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes before serving. This way, the butter will tighten again and the spread will hold its shape better.
For the best result, serve the feta cheese spread on toasted bread. Whatever your favorite bread type is, it will work just fine. And don’t forget some veggies, red or white radish, cucumber or tomatoes go the best with this spread.

Optional Tips For This Spread:
- You can experiment with the ingredient measurements. Want the spread more savory? Add more Feta cheese. Looking for a more thick structure? Use less cream cheese…
- Are you a fan of all things spicy? Replace sweet paprika with hot paprika.
- Looking for a mild dip-like texture? Use a mixer/blender to combine the ingredients.
And we are done, simple, delicious, healthy 🙂
